How was your weekend?
Mine was a very long.
There were lots of furniture makeover projects that were going on in my house.
I was tired and hungry.
So I fixed this comfort meal.

Isn't it beautiful? Of course, it WAS delicious!
So easy to fix and no culinary skills required.
Put everything in the pot and wait until it boils.
And EAT.
Mille-Feuille Nabe is Japanese style hot pot. I don't know why they use a French word for this meal. I don't speak French but my French speaking hubby told me that "Mille-Feuille" means "a thousand leaves." He remembered his mom used to make French pastry with layers and layers of thin puff pastry. "Nabe" means hot pot dish in Japanese.
I LOVE to learn different languages through food.
I didn't put a thousand leaves but used lots of napa cabbage (Kimchi cabbage), bok choy, very thin slices of beef and mushrooms. Then I pour my own soy sauce mixture instead of dashi broth. (I am not very good at following the exact recipe.) Then boil.

I use a table top gas burner to cook on the dinner table.
You can buy it in most Asian markets for less than $20. Or you can use portable induction burner if you have one.
DO NOT cook this meal in the kitchen and serve it there.
The beauty of a hot pot meal is cooking while eating OR eating while cooking.
If you have small children, I don't recommend. (I am kind of a 'scared of everything' type of person.)
We were so busy to eat and totally forgot to take some pictures.
I have to remind myself I have a blog!!!

This site is not a food blog. I am not a food blogger.
I cannot spend lots of time taking pictures while I am cooking.
There are two hungry teenagers and a husband to feed in this house.
I am just a mom who is interested in trying to cook different types of food.
My family loves to EAT all kinds of food.
Sometimes I can post the recipes and sometimes I can't.
If you are willing to try this meal, drop a comment below. I'd love to share my trick.
You can also google "Mille-Feuille Nabe" and will find some good recipes.
